Some of them have been around for ages, while others are new electronic devices that have been developed in the past few years.
Some of the most commonly used dog training tools are listed below, along with a quick description:
- Collars some in many shapes and sizes, and variations and shock, spike, martingale, chain, and electronic ones are only a handful of them that you can find on the market today. They are typically made of metal, leather, nylon, or fabric.
- Leashes are usually made out of leather and come in various length; some leashes can be looped around the dog's neck and eliminate the need for collars.
- Vests and chest halters are used by some trainers to reinforce positive behavior.
- Muzzles are used on dogs that bite or bark uncontrollably; however, they are only a short-term solution, yet highly effective when dealing with aggressive dogs or breeds.
- Clickers are excellent dog training tools, which can be used to reinforce positive behavior.
- Bait pouches are used by many professional dog trainers and could be invaluable when trying to teach your dog new tricks.
- Dog halters are often used to train and guide dogs instead of collars since often the dogs could slip out of the collars easily.
