In this section of our website you will find some valuable dog training tips, which are shared by professional dog trainers, as well as by regular readers. Even though we have decided not to break down this rather large category into subsections, here you will find free advice on how to house-train a puppy, socialize with your dog, and keep a proper routine. Here you will also receive dog-training tips that pertain to barking behavior, dog digging, confidence building, and obedience.
Learning how to live in harmony with your new pet could be challenging, but as long as you start early, and keep working and building, you are likely to have a dog that is well behaved, social, and healthy. The most challenging part is to channel your own energy and efforts in such a way that you are working with the dog’s instincts and drives rather than against them. This certainly takes time and practice to master, but it is also extremely rewarding and satisfying.
You will learn how to do all this from the comfort of your own home and without having to hire outside professional trainers, and you are welcome to share your own tips and experience with us as well. You could also suggest a new topic or ask questions and no matter what your dog breed or age, we will try to answer them and help you to the best of our abilities.
All the dog training tips that we currently have and will include in this section in the future are non-violent, and we believe that positive reinforcement, combined with patience and generosity will help you work better with your canine friend.

his energy level is super high….but I notice while petting him he has about 6-8 little pimple like eruptions under the fur….they do not protrude above the fur….mostly on his head, and by his ears, one on his nose. I have been putting triple antibiotic ointment on them…..but since they seem closed, I doubt this [...]

Taz was only brought into the home 4 months ago. He was owned by friends of relatives. He is neutered and is 7 years old. Taz was introduced to all our dogs and was accepting of all of them. Taz lives in my son’s home (37 year old male with wife and 9 year old [...]

Scout the GSD is always biting her sister Ranger the mutt. This is her way of “playing”. Often, this playing involves Scout biting rangers neck while Ranger is submissive. We think her windpipe is being blocked. We don’t think Ranger is enjoying the playing all the time. She usually plays back but recently, a few [...]

I was never able to consistently train him to not jump up on my bed so have resorted to physically blocking his access from it at all times and that’s worked so that’s what I keep doing. Maybe one day I’ll be diligent and organized enough to train him on that! Meanwhile, I’m worried about [...]

Does anyone have any good recipes for easy to make dog treats? Prefferably without meat in them (easier to store them)…. This batch was rice flour, maple [...]

No other dog can play with toys without her going absolutely out of control. If there is a toy around, she will quiver and shake and pant and do whatever it takes to be able to get to the toy. If another dog has a toy, she will aggressively drive the dog off the toy [...]

But help! Right now he’s outside barking like crazy to come in. He went swimming then rolled in the dirt. So I took him back in the pool. I put him in our run where he could dry off without getting muddy again. I’m leaving in a few minutes, so drying him off to come [...]

Hi, We have 3 doggies. Here’s where I need help. My 8 month old Cockapoo is quite the barker and jumper. Ditto that for my 2 1/2 year old lab. The ‘poo is still a pup, but I’m having zero luck on these issues. My lab barks in rhythm (ie. one, one thousand, two one [...]
